# 1005.405 Borrower residency status.
(a) An eligible Borrower who is an Indian must be:
(1) A U.S. citizen; or
(2) A lawful permanent resident alien.
(b) Documentation must be provided to the Direct Guarantee Lender to support lawful residency status as defined in the Immigration and Nationality Act, codified at 8 U.S.C. 1101, *et seq.*
