# 405.92 Effluent limitations guidelines representing the degree of effluent reduction attainable by the application of the best practicable control technology currently available.

Except as provided in §§ 125.30 through 125.32, any existing point source subject to this subpart shall achieve the following effluent limitations representing the degree of effluent reduction attainable by the application of the best practicable control technology currently available (BPT):

(a) For plants condensing more than 100,000 lb/day of milk equivalent (more than 10,390 lb/day of BOD*5* input).

| | | |
| --- | --- | --- |
| | Metric units (kilograms per 1,000 kg of BOD input) | |
| BOD | 3.450 | 1.380 |
| TSS | 5.175 | 2.070 |
| pH | () | () |
| | English units (pounds per 100 lb of BOD input) | |
| BOD | 0.345 | 0.138 |
| TSS | 0.518 | .207 |
| pH | () | () |
| Within the range 6.0 to 9.0. | | |

(b) For plants condensing 100,000 lb/day or less of milk equivalent (less than 10,390 lb/day of BOD*5* input).

| | | |
| --- | --- | --- |
| | Metric units (kilograms per 1,000 kg of BOD input) | |
| BOD | 4.60 | 2.30 |
| TSS | 6.90 | .450 |
| pH | () | () |
| | English units (pounds per 100 lb of BOD input) | |
| BOD | 0.460 | 0.230 |
| TSS | 0.690 | .345 |
| pH | () | () |
| Within the range 6.0 to 9.0. | | |

(c) For plants in the size range covered by paragraph (b) once-through barometric condenser water may be discharged untreated if the composite net entrainment is below 15 mg/l of BOD*5* for any one day and below 10 mg/l of BOD*5* as the average for thirty consecutive days.
