#  Detention of Aliens Ordered Removed

**AGENCY:**

Immigration and Naturalization Service, Justice.

**ACTION:**

Proposed rule; extension of comment period.

**SUMMARY:**

On June 30, 2000, at 65 FR 40540, the Immigration and Naturalization Service published a proposed rule in the *Federal Register* , to provide a uniform review process governing the detention of criminal, inadmissible, and other aliens, excluding Mariel Cubans, who have received a final order but whose departure has not been effected within the 90-day removal period. To ensure that the public has ample opportunity to fully review and comment on the proposed rule, this notice extends the public comment period from July 31, 2000, through August 11, 2000.

Written comments must be submitted on or before August 11, 2000.
