**AGENCY:**

Office of the Under Secretary of Defense (Comptroller)/Chief Financial Officer, Department of Defense (DoD).

**ACTION:**

30-Day information collection notice.

**SUMMARY:**

The DoD has submitted to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for clearance the following proposal for collection of information under the provisions of the Paperwork Reduction Act.

**DATES:**

Consideration will be given to all comments received by July 26, 2024.

**SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION:**

*Title; Associated Form; and OMB Number:* Request for Information Regarding Deceased Debtor, DD Form 2840; OMB Control Number 0730-0015.

*Type of Request:* Revision.

*Number of Respondents:* 150.

*Responses per Respondent:* 1.

*Annual Responses:* 150.

*Average Burden per Response:* 5 minutes.

*Annual Burden Hours:* 13.

*Needs and Uses:* The information collection requirement is necessary to obtain information on deceased debtors from probate courts. Probate courts review their records to see if an estate was established. They provide the name and address of the executor or lawyer handling the estate. From the information obtained, Defense Finance and Accounting Service submits a claim against the estate for the amount due to the United States.

*Affected Public:* State, local, or tribal government.

*Frequency:* On occasion.

*Respondent's Obligation:* Voluntary.
