**Abstract of Information Available**

The two associated funerary objects are: one lot of stone beads, and one unworked crystal. At an unknown time prior to 1958 an unknown person or persons disinterred the two associated funerary objects from CA-SAC-16. At an unknown time, these Ancestors and associated funerary objects were transferred to Dr. Max Goldstein of St. Louis, MO where they were stored and possibly displayed at his private museum within the Central Institute for the Deaf. Following the death of Dr. Goldstein, his estate transferred control of the Ancestors and associated funerary objects to the Missouri Historical Society in 1958.

**Cultural Affiliation**

Based on the information available and the results of consultation, cultural affiliation is reasonably identified by the geographical location or acquisition history of the associated funerary objects described in this notice.

**Determinations**

The MHS has determined that:

• The two objects described in this notice are reasonably believed to have been placed intentionally with or near individual human remains at the time of death or later as part of the death rite or ceremony.

• There is a connection between the associated funerary objects described in this notice and the Buena Vista Rancheria of Me-Wuk Indians of California; California Valley Miwok Tribe, California; Ione Band of Miwok Indians of California; Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians, Shingle Springs Rancheria (Verona Tract), California; United Auburn Indian Community of the Auburn Rancheria of California; and the Wilton Rancheria, California.

Repatriation of the associated funerary objects described in this notice to a requestor may occur on or after January 20, 2026. If competing requests for repatriation are received, the MHS must determine the most appropriate requestor prior to repatriation. Requests for joint repatriation of the associated funerary objects are considered a single request and not competing requests. The MHS is responsible for sending a copy of this notice to the Indian Tribes and Native Hawaiian organizations identified in this notice and any other consulting parties.
