# § 4502. “Institution of higher education” and “Advisory Committee” defined

As used in this chapter—

**(1)** the term “institution of higher education” has the same meaning given such term in section 1001 of title 20; and

**(2)** the term “Advisory Committee” means the Advisory Committee for Studies of Eastern Europe and the Independent States of the Former Soviet Union established by section 4503(a) of this title.

### Amendments

1998—Par. (1). , which directed substitution of “section 1001” for “section 1141(a)” in section 803(1) of the Soviet-Eastern European Research and Training Act of 1983, was executed to this section, which is section 803 of the Research and Training for Eastern Europe and the Independent States of the Former Soviet Union Act of 1983, to reflect the probable intent of Congress, and the change in the short title of that Act. See , set out as a Short Title note under .

1993—Par. (2).  substituted “Advisory Committee for Studies of Eastern Europe and the Independent States of the Former Soviet Union” for “Soviet-Eastern European Studies Advisory Committee”.
